Datacenters have now evolved to require high performance security solutions coupled with strict demands in power supply quality.
To guarantee a high level of availability and resilience, these datacenters are installing uninterruptible and redundant power supply solutions which keep these centers working irrespective of maintenance works or system failure.
The "Tier" classifications of the Uptime Institute formalize these requirements. In case of an installation Tier 2 or higher, the UPS works with a redundant architecture N+1. The highest security level (Tier 4) defines the redundancy 2 (N+1) or S+S.
KST meets this requirement with the parallel KPS system called Plug&Run.
A UPS system with several dynamic Rotabloc KPS (architecture N+1) equipped with Plug&Run will guarantee a very high efficiency as well as increasing reliability of the whole installation.
For total redundancy and resilience the characteristics of the KPS system are:
- No command-master system ("Single point of failure")
- No centralized by-pass (second "Single point of failure")
- The use of a redundant ring in optical fiber for the communication
Plug&Run is very flexible and modular therefore making possible easy addition of modules in order to deal with future increases of the critical load. Plug&Run gives the ability to design a project in several phases and consequently to spread out investment costs.
